COVID-19: Announcement over procurement of Pfizer vaccine

Storing & distribution of Coronavirus vaccine candidate developed by Pfizer will be challenging for India as the vaccine developed by Pfizer needs to be stored at temperature of minus 70 degrees Celsius. The Center on Tuesday said that it will be a great challenge for us to develop a supply chain to store the vaccine.

According to NITI Aayog member (Health) Dr VK Paul, India is currently examining the possibilities if at all the vaccine developed by Pfizer has to be obtained by India. Paul also said that a  scheme on distribution of COVID vaccine across the country is currently in its final stages of preparation.

Meanwhile, Moderna US-based pharma giant announced that its candidate for Covid-19 vaccine is nearly 95% effective in preventing the deadly viral disease.
